Wellington: Eating rice can reduce the risk of colon cancer. According to Ann Richardson of the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, more than 2,800 people are diagnosed with colon cancer every year. It's possible change in diet is the cause of 'trend' cancer worldwide.



"The rapid increase bowel cancer in Japan and Hong Kong can be attributed to dietary changes that occurred in the country 50 years later," said a researcher.
