Jakarta, until now there is no cure for Alzheimer's disease.Therefore if there are alternative treatments that claim to cure Alzheimer's, then it is a lie.
"Liar if there are alternative treatments that could cure Alzheimer's, but the doctor could help address the symptoms," said Dr Martina Wiwie, SpKJ the sidelines of a media gathering at the Strathmore Building, Jakarta, Thursday (05/04/2012).
World Health Organization (WHO) says Alzheimer's is the fourth leading cause of death in high-income countries because of increasing aging population worldwide. Today many countries are at war against Alzheimer's because there is no cure.
Currently an estimated 1 million people affected by Alzheimer Indonesia based on the calculation of the world. Based on the research note that 5-6 percent of the elderly population has Alzheimer's.
"But we do not yet know exactly how many, because many are still not concerned, estimated that only about 10 percent of people with Alzheimer's to the doctor or hospital," said Dr Wiwie the Alzheimer's Association of Indonesia.
Further Wiwie said Dr. Alzheimer was the cause of about 60 percent of cases of dementia, whereas other causes of dementia was 20 per cent of recurrent stroke and 20 percent of other diseases such as Parkinson's or HIV (HIV can get dementia at age 30-40 years).
Note there are some symptoms of Alzheimer's are:A. Often forgotten2. Difficult decisions3. Mood swings4. Withdraw from social life5. Difficult speech and language6. Experience confusion
"Do not look at people such as Alzheimer's sick yes, he's not fine, but once he discovered a new way. The main risk factor is aging or old age can not be changed, but if that could diapa-apain it is we have to live healthy, "said Dr Wiwie.
