Jakarta, HEALTH BLOG ~ When migraine recurrence can be very distracting and reduce productivity. If you have a migraine,some foods should be avoided, one of which is a banana. Why?
There are a number of factors that can trigger migraines, one of which is food. Some foods that cause migraines usually containchemical compounds called tyramine.
Tyramine is dominant in the composition of banana fruit.Therefore, the banana is considered a powerful trigger for headaches bananas, as reported by Livestrong, Saturday(02/25/2012).
High concentrations of tyramine in the blood of migraine patientscould lead to vasoconstriction (narrowing of arteries) the bloodvessels in the brain. In addition, people with migraine alsoappear to lack the enzymes needed to break down tyramine.
Other fruits associated with an increased frequency of migraineinclude papaya, red plums, raisins, figs and ripe avocado andbanana.
While the vegetables are often trigger migraines include peas, onion, garlic, green beans, olives, pickles and sauerkraut.
In most cases, migraine sufferers feel the throbbing pain on oneside of the head (sometimes spreading to both the head), and is usually accompanied by nausea or vomiting. Small fraction of patients also feel the aura zigzag, circle of light or blurred visionbefore the attack came.
Although the exact cause of migraine is still under debate, butmost researchers seem to agree that migraine is caused by decreased blood flow to brain cells. This in turn can lead tonarrowing of the arteries, which is triggered by certain externalfactors.
